Did you know that millions of glass bottles are discarded every year, often without being reused? What if we told you that you could transform your table with unique pieces that tell a story of sustainability and design? Amarzo gives new life to glass, transforming it into refined objects that combine aesthetics, Tuscan craftsmanship, and respect for the environment.
Every year, in Europe alone, over 20 million tons of glass are produced, but less than 70% is actually recycled. The rest ends up in landfills or dispersed in the environment, taking up to a million years to completely degrade. This is why Amarzo has chosen to give a second life to this precious material, transforming it into design objects that celebrate Tuscan craftsmanship.
Where does the recycled glass come from?
The bottles we select come from Tuscan restaurants, wineries, and wine producers, places where wine has accompanied moments of conviviality and celebration. Each selected bottle has a past: some have held fine wines aged over time, others have contained oils and spirits resulting from centuries-old traditions. Our work is not limited to recycling, but to adding value. Each piece retains the soul of the original material, transforming into design objects that tell the story of the territory and local craftsmanship.
Imagine serving a drink in a glass that once contained a fine Tuscan wine: isn't that fascinating?
What is the manufacturing process?
Behind every Amarzo glass is the meticulous work of artisans, who master traditional techniques passed down through generations. Every detail is carefully perfected to obtain smooth surfaces and a perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality.
Our glass transformation process follows artisanal and ecological methods:
-
Selection and cleaning: After collection, the bottles are selected based on color, thickness, and quality. They are then washed using low water consumption techniques and without the use of harsh chemicals.
-
Cutting and shaping: Through precision processing, bottles are cut and shaped to create glasses, pitchers, spoons, and trays. This is where the skill of Tuscan artisans comes into play, meticulously finishing each piece.
-
Polishing and satin finishing: Some products are polished to achieve a natural brilliance, while others are treated for an elegant and sophisticated satin effect.
-
Quality control and packaging: Each piece is inspected to ensure strength, safety, and aesthetic beauty before being packaged in eco-friendly packaging.
Unlike other recycling processes, Amarzo does not melt or remold the glass. Melting requires extremely high temperatures, with high energy consumption. We choose a more sustainable approach: the glass is cut and finished by hand, maintaining its original structure and reducing environmental impact.
But is recycled glass really sustainable?
The answer is a resounding yes! Glass is one of the most sustainable materials because it can be recycled infinitely without losing quality.
Producing new objects from recycled glass saves up to 30% of energy compared to creating virgin glass. Furthermore, each ton of recycled glass avoids the emission of approximately 670 kg of CO₂.
Choosing Amarzo means choosing a sustainable future, where beauty, innovation, and environmental responsibility meet.
